LET'S TALK ABOUT... VOGUE 100
So, we went to the Vogue 100 exhibition and it was fabulous! Let’s not kid ourselves, it was fucking awesome and we left it on a very fashionable high!
As you already know, we are obsessed with design, fashion and all things beautiful. Buying Vogue has been a ritual we have upheld for years. We have coveted and lusted over new ad campaigns (Chanel and Mulberry, we are looking at you), read articles and pretended not to notice price tags (unsuccessfully, sadly).
For us the magazine represents women, fashion, icons, stylists and photographers and it has done so for an epic one hundred years. It has fed our appetite for the beautiful, bold, mysterious, extravagant, eccentric and the drop dead fabulous and this exhibition captures it perfectly.
As you walk into the exhibition, you’re greeted with hundreds of Vogue covers hanging from the ceiling. Meandering through the exhibition reveals art works and articles from the first editions, which are contrasted with videos and technology used today. Stunning black and white photos of Vogue icons Grace Coddington, Jean Shrimpton, Twiggy and Kate Moss will have you entranced in their simplicity. The opulence and romanticism of Tim Walker’s photography will beguile you and Mario Testino’s portraits will suck you in, just like they do when you read the magazine.
This exhibition is the ultimate love letter to British fashion and the people who make it happen. It is beautiful, graphic and awe inspiring. Prepare to fall in love!
This exhibition runs until the end of May so make sure that you DO NOT miss out. You will regret it and we will have to say we told you so…
